Ellen Bernards, a counselor for GreenPath Debt Solutions of Madison, Wisconsin, was awarded the 2012 Wisconsin Financial Literacy Award by Governor Scott Walker in a ceremony at the State Capitol on March 1.
Ellen was one of 21 recipients of the award, which was given by the Governor’s Council on Financial Literacy.
Governor Walker saluted the recipients for “excelling in their efforts to improve the financial knowledge and well-being of the people of Wisconsin. They are making a difference in our schools, our workplaces, and our communities across the state.”
Bernards is an experienced educator who has made financial literacy presentations to a wide variety of groups – public sector employees, students in alternative high school, homeless veterans, Habitat for Humanity home buyers, employers, middle schoolers, recovery programs and half-way houses, libraries and other non-profit financial education programs. In 2012, she offered 71 presentations to 1,365 attendees.
